Scholarships for Washington University Admission in 2022/23 – Apply Now

Washington University Scholarships 2022: The University’s Institutional Aid Programs provide various scholarships for the Pre-Clinical Science section of the curriculum. Students who believe they can demonstrate financial need and/or academic achievement, as well as meet the other requirements for one or more programs, should apply. Despite the fact that an application may be considered for multiple programs, a recipient is usually only awarded one type of scholarship. Members of each entering class are awarded tuition scholarships.

Depending on funding availability, each Scholarship Recipient may receive a tuition reimbursement of up to 50%. There are no awards for the full cost of attendance.

Most applications and awards are made prior to the student’s matriculation in the school or for the entire duration of the program, in order for the student to plan ahead of time for the financial requirements associated with attending WUHS (Belize). Scholarship awardees are chosen by WUHS (Belize) Committees and Departments in compliance with rules established by the Office of Financial Aid.

Academic performance, the degree of the family’s financial need, and the availability of cash from the School, as well as the scholarship’s specific criteria, are used to make award decisions.

All awards must be utilized to pay for tuition, and the Office of Student Finances credits them directly to the student’s account each term.

The applications for the programs can be downloaded from the University’s website or requested by email. Up until the first day of classes, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

The Office of Financial Aid will send either an award letter or a rejection letter to applicants. The scholarship amount and terms will be stated in an award letter.

EXCELLENCE IN ADMISSION AWARDS

The award is given to prospective students who have excelled academically prior to entrance to WUHS (Belize) or have received high results on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). All approved applicants who meet the Award conditions will be considered automatically. It is not necessary to submit a separate application. As long as funds are available for a given semester, applicants will be rewarded around one month prior to the start date of the semester; therefore, applying early may considerably boost the odds of approval. It is not possible to defer the Admission Excellence Award to a later semester.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Several tuition grants will be given out each semester to students who have excelled academically during their studies. Scholarship recipients must also adhere to the Student Honor Code’s high moral and ethical standards. The Deans of the Pre-Medical Program and Pre-Clinical Science make the ultimate decisions on scholarship applicants.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

This fellowship honors the Dean of Clinical Science, a pioneer in medical education in the United States who had a significant influence on the founding of WUHS (Belize’s) Clinical Rotations. These partial tuition grants are given to students who have received good scores on the USMLE Step 1 or have showed outstanding achievements during the Clinical Science Program.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY

This program is dedicated to fostering a diverse student body with a variety of countries and cultural backgrounds who will contribute to the global medical community in the future. Non-US and non-Canadian students who demonstrate academic distinction, demonstrate financial need, and plan to return to their home countries as physicians dedicated to improving their nations’ medical care systems are eligible for partial scholarships.
